Retirement - Boring and Mundane?Author: Angles L. Hunt I am part of? the FACEBOOK phenomenon, which is something I really didn’t think I would enjoy, but now that I have connected to so many Facebook Friends, it is so much fun.? You get to converse with others about their feelings, what they are doing or going to do, mostly nothing, but it’s still fun! Well, one of the Facebook Friends, wrote they they would never retire, because they loved their job, and that being retired was “boring”, “mundane” and “overrated”!? Of course, I had to respond right away!? How could someone exactly say that about being retired.? ? As I written before, somehow people feel that you will get bored if you? wasn’t? constantly doing something to make you feel good about yourself.? It’s been one whole year since I? retired and I still am not having those crazy feelings!? ? What I am doing now is volunteering my time for a city council candidate, in my city, and if they are voted in, I mentioned that I wouldn’t mind working, 2 or 3 days a week!? But, the freedom comes from the fact that if I ever get tired of doing that, I don’t have too!? Retirement, so far, is not boring or mundane, and definitely isn’t overrated!? Just ask my husband if he wants to continue to work (he’s a city bus driver).? He is counting down the days to retirement.? He has 7 1/2 years to go.? ? I think? it’s wonderful that a person loves their job that they would never want to retire,? and if I had a job like that, I might consider it……NOT!? I did the working part, now I like to enjoy the retirement part!
